Has Mario Cristobal’s Time Run Out at Oregon?

What a sad time to be a Ducks fan.

Last week Oregon lost to its in-state rival for only the second time in the last decade. It was a crushing blow for the Ducks, and they destroyed any potential argument for making the college football playoff. Then yesterday, they played their worst football of the season, losing to the 0–3 Cal Bears. The past two weeks have been a complete meltdown from Mario Cristobal and his football team.

Yesterday’s game was the worst UO has looked since 2016, as the Ducks came out flatter than a 5th grade girl at a school dance. Tell me something, after an embarrassing loss to your in-state rival, wouldn’t you think UO would bounce back the next week with a little fire under their ass? I’d sure hope so. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case, as we saw some very undisciplined and uninspired football from Oregon. The Ducks had nine penalties, some of which came at extremely inopportune times. They had more flags than a Trump rally.

The Ducks have been sloppy all season, whether it be the penalties or the turnovers, and it’s finally caught up to them in these last two games. With such a frustrating season, and a major drop off from last year’s Rose Bowl win, the question now is: Should the Ducks get rid of Cristobal? The obvious answer: Yes, yes they should get rid of him.

After a pathetic loss to the Cal Bears, there is no defending the future ex-Oregon head coach. Of course, many have made excuses for Cristobal, blaming the sloppy play on covid or lack of preseason reps.

I’m not sure who this honky on Twitter is, but he sure seems comfortable with mediocrity. Mario is 100% on the hot seat. You can’t lose to Oregon State and Cal in back-to-back weeks and expect to keep your job.

The Ducks now sit at 2nd place in the Pac-12 North, with a 3–2 record on the season. Pathetically enough, they still have a shot at winning the Pac-12 Championship. We’ll see if they can bounce back against Washington next week.
